Born in Vancouver and raised on the majestic slopes of its north shore, Doug Heal is an evolving multidisciplinary artist and writer living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 3. A lifelong student, Doug has studied at Emily Carr University and has degrees from Capilano and Simon Fraser Universities. In 2016 he returned to his creative roots with works being showcased on both sides of the border; including being selected an amazing four years in a row for the SEAF and being selected from artists across Canada to be featured in the November 2017 exhibition “Can You See Us Vancouver?” at the prestigious Pendulum Gallery. More recently Doug has been exploring art through an electronic lens, using digital images and tools to create images for the “Nothing Without Us” exhibit in Vancouver BC.
